YouTube to support RSS uploads

YouTube to support RSS uploads for podcasts by end of year

YouTube announced a new feature allowing users to add RSS feeds to their music library in YouTube Music.

According to TechCrunch, YouTube product lead Steve McLendon confirmed that the platform is working on supporting RSS uploads for podcasts by the end of the year. The new feature has been in beta testing since earlier this year.

RSS is a summary of content published on websites. For YouTube, RSS provides a summary of the podcasts you follow, which you can add to your music library. This puts YouTube in competition with popular podcast apps like Apple Podcasts and Overcast, and ahead of Spotify in terms of RSS support.

YouTube previously announced that it added podcast support to its music streaming service in the United States across iOS, Android, and the web. Still, it has not yet expanded to other markets.
