OpenAI is on track to generate $1 billion in revenue this year, thanks to the success of its ChatGPT generative AI chatbot.
According to Bloomberg, OpenAI’s total sales are expected to reach $1 billion (about €919 million) by 2023. The company is currently generating about $80 million per month, and the release of its ChatGPT Enterprise business version has helped boost this figure. This is a good move to attract entrepreneurs and make the tool more profitable, even though AI models require a lot of computing power to operate.
Companies are increasingly integrating AI models into their operations, which has helped OpenAI’s profits grow rapidly. However, sources say that the company lost $540 million last year in the development of its GPT-4 AI model and the ChatGPT tool.
