Meta announced that it is preparing to allow Threads users to delete their accounts without affecting their Instagram profiles by December 2023. Currently, there is no way to delete a Threads account without also deleting an Instagram account.
As explained by Michel Protti, Meta’s chief privacy officer for product, during the TechCrunch Disrupt event, they faced challenges in allowing for the deletion of a separate Threads account without also deleting an overall Instagram account. However, Meta is now giving special attention to ensuring that users can still exercise their deletion rights by deactivating the account to hide all content, setting it to private, or deleting individual threads.
On the other hand, Threads added a new feature that allows users to switch between multiple accounts without logging out on the mobile app, making it easier to switch between work and personal profiles.
